How would I know the length of a keyboard or pencil? I ask because they sometimes ask that on the praxis. thanks.

Is it cm?

You joking? Use a ruler or tape measure...cm or inches or whatever depends on who's asking...

The answer to this question depends upon the information given. Please post an actual exercise.

This kind of question frequently appears in elementary school textbooks, where the goal is to get students to have a FEELING for the relative sizes of the units.

For example, which unit would be more likely to be used to measure a pencil? kilometers or meters or centimeters
Which would be appropriate as an estimate of the length of your keyboard? 30 cm or 30 m or 30 km

You aren't expected to actually DO the measurement....just to identify an appropriate unit to use.

You need to be more specific about what kind of keyboard.

For example, Is it a personal computer keyboard or a piano/organ keyboard?

A personal keyboard.
Well....who cares !
Are you not asking how to measure SOMETHING in cm's?
If they ask you how wide your keyboard is, give them the brand, model/serial number
and tell them to look it up using google
