Suppose you select 2 letters at random from the word compute.

Find the probablility of 2 vowels?

ok I know this is probablity with computation and the formula i think is P(s)=s/s+f. I also know there are 3 vowels.

I dont know how to start it.
I think if I knew how to start it I would be able to do it.

Insufficient description. With or without replacement?

" P(s)=s/s+f. I also know there are 3 vowels.

I dont know how to start it. "

How can you give a formula and claim you have no idea how to start? That's just silly. Of course, you counted only two vowels, so maybe you don't know where to start.

Assume with replacement. 7 letters 3 vowels p(drawing one vowel in one draw) = 3/7 -- Now, put it back and draw another.

Assume without replacement Pr(first draw is a vowel) = 3/7, then Pr(2nd draw is a vowel given that the first was a vowel) = 2/6

Now what?

I posted the formula because that is the formula they gave me in the book. I just dont really understand how to use the formula.
