linear equation in one variable
please explain how the answer 9/2 is gotten

2(-3/2)^2 = 5(-3/2) + 12

thank you

This makes very little sense.

You say it is "linear", but we find "^2" in there. No good.

Anyway...

2(-3/2)^2 = 2(9/4) = 9/2

5(-3/2) + 12 = -15/2 + 24/2 = 9/2
