If an event can succeed in s ways and fail in f ways, then the probability of success is ___.

This is a multiple choice question in a practice exam that I got wrong. I selected 1-f, but the answer key says that the answer is (s)/(f+s). Can anyone show me how to get the correct answer?

There are a total of \(\displaystyle f+s \) outcomes.
