I have a list that contains 1347 people ranked by the number of points they have (1. 100, 2. 99,5 3. 99,4 etc.). Now if I'm ranked 1050th, I know I have 297 people below me and 1049 above me.
Now, let’s say I can remove 347 people who I know that aren't my competition, but they are scattered randomly throughout the list. Now I have a list of 1000 people and no idea which position I am (I know I can remove a total of 347, but don't know which 347). So it's

If there is a way to calculate this, or an approximate value, I would be very grateful!
