So I'm trying to find the probability of finding a five lettered word in a 25 by 25 word search. The letters are all generated randomly.
So far I have googled the number of five letter words there are in the English language and wiki answers says 8,801. But since that's not really accurate, I googled the four lettered words. There are a total of 454,230 of them.
In order to make this work with reasonably accurate data I've modified the problem to P(finding a four-letter word in a 25x25 word search which has randomly generated letters)
There are a total of 625 letters in the word search (25 squared) and each letter in the alphabet appears about 24 times but I'm not sure what to do after that, someone please help me?
I would really appreciate it, I'm stuck.
