The question goes:
1000/x = y
How many different solutions are possible where
x is a positive whole number
y is a 2 digit possible whole number

I could do this by trial and error method, but I want to know the correct way of doing these kind of problems

Thanks in Advance

I would write the equation as:

\(\displaystyle xy=1000=2^3\cdot5^3\)

Now look for all the factors of the right side that have 2 digits...this will be \(\displaystyle y\), and what's left is \(\displaystyle x\).
