need help on regression analysis exercise 1.102

Alkalinity level in rever water. the mean alkalinity level of water specimens collected from the Han River in Seoul, Korea is 50 miligram per liter. based on the study conducted by Evniromental science and Engineering, consider a random sample of 100 water specimens collected from a tributary of the Han River. suppose the mean and standered deviation of the alkalinity levels for the sample are Y = 67.8 spl and s= 14.4 mpl. is there sufficient evidence(at alpha =.01) to indicate that the population mean alkalinity level of water in the tributary exceeds 50mpl?

Start with definitions:

What are sample mean and population mean? How do you calculate (estimate) one from the other?
