Two navy planes leave an aircraft carrier at the same time and fly in opposite directions. After flying for 1 and a half hour, the planes are 1140 miles apart. If one plane flies 10miles per hour faster than the other, what is the rate of the faster plane? --Please help and please explain on how to get the answer. Thanks

For an explanation of how to set up and solve "uniform rate" exercises, please review at least two lessons from this list.

Once you have learned the basic terms and techniques, please attempt the exercise. If you get stuck, you can then reply with a clear listing of your efforts, starting with the variable you picked for the rate of the slower plane. Thank you! ;)
