How do I solve a problem that requests the variance and standard deviation when I'm only given limited information. Ex N=11, x2 = 48, x =20? I'm normally given a series of numbers to find the mean, variance etc.

What are those numbers? I suppose N=11 is the number of data.
Does x2 = 48 represent the sum sf the squares of the data???
Is x = 20 the sum of the data???
If so, then the definition of Variance is the mean of the squares minus the square of the mean.
