Hi, my work book has no solutions so I was wondering if this is correct?

In the past 30% of applicants for admissions into a masters program had a GRE score above 650. If the 88 students applying to be admitted into the program in 1981, 22 had GRE scores above 650. Do the 1981 applicants have greater GRE scores that previous applicants at the 5% level of significant?

p_1=22/88=0.25

root 88=9.38

\(\displaystyle Z = \dfrac{0.25-0.30}{[(0.30*0.70)/88]^{1/2}}\)

\(\displaystyle Z = \dfrac{-0.05}{0.04885}\)

\(\displaystyle Z = 1.024\)

Z critical= 1.96

therefore, we can not reject the null

Thanks,
