The number of births in a city every day is a binomial random variable with mean 1000 and variance
131. The number of deaths in that city every day is a binomial random variable with mean 950 and
variance 125. Assuming that the number of births and deaths on any particular day is independent of the
numbers of births and deaths on all other days, what is the probability that in April the city’s population
will decrease? (Use continuity correction if you think it is needed.)
