So, I'm reading a article for an online course that I'm taking and I ran across this:

It is not mathematically possible to maximize for two (or more) variables at the same time.

What does it mean to max for two or more variables?

I'm not sure if this post belongs in the probability section, but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

That statement is not always true; therefore, we need to know the context of the article, in order to provide a meaningful response.

Again, the meaning depends upon the topic being discussed.

Please provide the context.

Cheers
