Hi guys just found this site, I'm a bit stuck on this question, if anyone could explain/answer it that would be amazing! :) Thanks!

A physician is evaluating a new diet for her patients with a family history of heart disease. To test the effectiveness of this diet, 16 patients are placed on the diet for 6 months. Their triglyceride levels are measured before and after the study, and the physician wants to know if the measurements have changed. Which of the following statements is true:

Mean n Std deviation Std error of mean
Pre-triglyceride 138.44 16 29.040 7.260
Post-triglyceride 124.38 16 29.412 7.353

a) The pre and post treatment values are independent of each other.
b) The pre and post treatment values cannot be validly compared because they are not independent of each other.
c) Post treatment values are randomly sampled from pre treatment values.
d) This is a paired design with 2 repeated observations on each patient.
