Hello,
My teacher gave me this problem and I don't know how to proceed. My mom told me to look online. Can someone please help. Thank You.

A = (((2*9)-132)-18)*(-1)

What is the equation to solve for the number 9?
What is the equation to solve for the number 18?

As posted - does not make sense.

Please post the exact problem with all the instructions.

I think you mean: "If A = (((2x)-132)- 18)(-1) how would you solve for x?" The difficulty with saying "solve for 9" is that 18= 2*9 so that can be written A= (((2x)- 132)- 2(9))(-1) so that 9 occur twice. Is that what you meant? Of we could say that 132= (14+ 2/3)(9) which would introduce a third "9"!

To solve A= (((2*x)- 132)- 18)(-1), "undo" what has been done to x, just as you would unpeel complicated wrappings to get to the present: Multiply both sides by -1: -A= ((2*x)- 132)- 18. Add 18 both sides: 18- A= (2*x)- 132. Add 132 to both sides: 18- A+ 132=150- A= 2x. Finally, divide by 2: x= 75- A/2
