Maybe my brain is stuck, but I cannot seem to figure out the mean and standard deviation just from the information listed below.
The unemployment information for each region in the U.S. in March of 2013 is displayed in thousands:
Midwest: 2,525.6
Northeast: 2240.2
West: 3004.6
South: 4106.9
1. What are the mean and standard deviation unemployment numbers for each of the regions?
2. How many regions fall more than 1 standard above the mean?
3. How does this number compare with the number expected from the theoretical normal curve distribution?
Thank you in advance!
