I'm self studying statistics and I don't think I fully understand the principle of random variables and the difference between discrete and continuous; here are a few examples from the textbook:

Select the quantity below that is not a random variable.
- The average number of cells in the human body
- The amount of time it takes to complete a board game
- The yearly amount of rainfall in North America
- The number of flights affected by turbulence in one year

I believe that it's the first one, as by stating average there would not be any variation, and that the event is less a chance event?

Also, can two elements of the sample space of the chance process correspond to the same value of X? I know that elements in a sample space should be distinct and mutually exclusive,
but I don't know if it applies here.
