why do you set -3x+6 =0, why not any other number? for example:-3x+6=5, then x=1/3. If x is a variable then it has no set value. When I say "solve for x" why must you assume solve for x intercept?

why do you set -3x+6 =0....
The second helper set the expression equal to zero for much the same reason as the first helper asked you to reply with the complete exercise: as posted, your question makes no sense. There is no "equals" sign in it, so there's no equation, and thus there's nothing to solve. But people often refer to "solving" an expression when they mean "finding the zeroes of" that expression.

So, to get things started, please reply with the full and exact text of the exercise, the complete instructions, and a clear listing of your efforts so far. Thank you! ;)
