Hey Folks,
I am a little rusty with my stats. Its been about 20years since I was in the classroom and I am struggling to figure out if I have it correct or if excel is leading me down the proverbial "garden path". I have an assignment which requires me to gather test data to determine quality measures. We had to develop a test in order to define a measure for quality, I chose level of education vs problem-solving ability. To cut a long story short, I tested 16 people (See data below) measuring their age, educational level and time to solve a puzzel, and then used this data in excel to determine the Pearson correlation coefficients (r)
I attained the following correlation coeficients
Age v Time 0.70
Age v Education 0.38
Time v Education -0.22
What these numbers tells me is that there is a strong correlation between Age & Time and Age and education yet there is no correlation betwen time and education.
My question is: are these r values correct and are my assumptions regarding the strength of corelation correction.
I start to get really lost in trying to figure out what the two individuals who have low education , high age and couldn't solve the puzzle ve the puzzle mean.Any guidance you could provide would be of great help.
Thanks
Ray
Where education corresponds to level of education ability attained. Time is in seconds; 300 seconds indicates that the test was stopped after 5 minutes as the individual couldn't complete the test.
