Certain folder permissions appear to be responsible for the periodic "internal server error" messages. Those have been fixed -- I think.
However, these were actually only a symptom of something unexpected happening much deeper in the server that I was not picking up from the logs. I believe...
Testing to make sure we're back up and ru^{nn}ing
Edit -- ok Xenforo and PHP are back up to current versions. Not sure if that will change anything. @stapel please email if you notice any outages. I very much appreciate that!
It's not clear to me from error logs what is going on, unfortunately.
Working on PHP and Xenforo version upgrades tonight, but generally speaking nothing is out of date.
It was actually circa 10th grade and a million years ago!
Jeff - for the moment, the tags are case sensitive. Need to use lower case math or imath bbcodes, or double dollar signs before and after. There's a few other options in the other thread but quite honestly it's not perfect yet. I don't want to provide a definitive list of what triggers which...
Use imath tag instead of math for inline code. Or use one of the other delimiters listed a few posts back. I realize this is all a work in progress... if there are certain delimiters not working as before please don't hesitate to let me know.
(First of all, I didn't know you could copy and paste images directly into the editor. Cool!)
Second, this is the server load running the traditional Apache server (left side) vs LiteSpeed server (right). Hopefully this results in less congestion.
How's it working for you now?
I have a weird setup going at the moment where the ` will produce asciimath using mathjax while everything else uses KaTeX. It's probably not ideal but it should work. However -- asciimath will not preview correctly nor will it show immediately after you make a...
I've made some backend server changes that may improve response time.
Edited to add: Looking at the stats from overnight at least, this resulted in a fairly substantial reduction in server load.
Hey @pka try it now. Completely different rendering engine that works better now. Try the f(x) button in the toolbar, or check the other thread in the Admin Issues forum.
Trying a different plug-in for the moment. This one seems to provide a much better live preview functionality but it uses KaTeX instead of Mathjax. I don't know much about KaTeX so I am curious if there are any rendering issues. Note the new toolbar icon is f(x) rather than the old calculator...
Hi guys!
For security reasons I had to push an upgrade to Xenforo Saturday morning. I expect there will be some slightly differences but I was hopeful it would be mostly transparent. Please post descriptions of changes that have occurred and perhaps we can try to mitigate.
Should be back to normal now, folks. A log file I didn't even know about had grown to nearly 20GB and was really bogging down the server. Thanks to the fine techs at Liquid Web for resolving the matter!
