A boy flying a kite releases 140m of string. The string makes an angle of 62° with the ground.
a) Assuming that the string is taut, how high is the kite above the string?
b) The wind blows stronger and the kite is carried 50m further away from the boy. Assuming that the boy releases more string and there is no change in the height of the kite above, calculate the angle that the string now makes with the ground.

You found the kite's height in part (a) above. You'll use this in part (b) below.

b) The wind blows stronger and the kite is carried 50m further away from the boy. Assuming that the boy releases more and the is no change in the height of the kite above, calculate the angle that the string now makes with the ground.
Draw a new right triangle for this part of the exercise. The ground is the base, the height (from the ground directly up to the kite) is the the vertical, and the line itself is the hypotenuse.

You know the value of the height; label the height line with this value. You know the total length of kite string, so label the hypotenuse with this value. Now use the appropriate inverse-trig function to find the value of the angle at the boy's location.

If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your work. Thank you! ;)
