Help with using the distance formula with variable

POINT A: (0,0) - C(a,a)

POINT B: (a,0) - D(0,a)

i cant figure out how to solve this using the distance formula. can somone please help!!!

You've two points. Can you identify the corresponding x- and y- values in the two points?

Are you "subtracting" points somehow? Or are you supposed to find the distances between pairs of points (which I think may be A and C, and B and D)? You mention "solving", but you don't provide any equations. What, precisely, are you supposed to be "solving"?
