I wanted help with this word problem.

James leaves his home town traveling 70 miles per hour. At the same time Paul leaves home traveling 75 miles per hour. The two live 580 miles apart and are traveling to meet each other for a lunch meeting at noon. What time did they leave their homes?

These were the 4 possible answers I was given:
A. 4 PM
B. 4 hours
C. 8 AM
D. 116 hours

I got A as the answer and just wanted to know if I was right.

I think you were on the right track, but (A) is not the correct answer.

The question asks what time they left, for a noon meeting. At 4pm, the meeting had already ended.

Answers (B) and (D) make no sense. :cool:
