A store purchases a ceiling fan for $213.03. They mark it up 128% on cost, and operating expenses are 51% of cost. What is the largest possible percent markdown they can offer without incurring any loss?

I have calculated:

  • cost = 213.03
  • operating expenses = 108.65
  • break-even = 321.68
  • selling price = 272.68
  • loss = (49)

Any help/direction on how to answer this question is appreciated.

I have calculated:

cost = 213.03

operating expenses = 108.65

… selling price = 272.68
It looks like you added 28% to cost, instead of 128%.
