Hi

So I have uploaded two slides from my lecture. The problem I am having is getting to equation 5 from 4. He says I need to put equation 4 into 1, which I do and get L=MIN.E(equation4). Then you take the first derivative of that with respect to m. So dL/dm= ??? I think I am taking this derivative wrong. However the next step is to solve for m and then you should get the answer he has in 5.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

I have not worked it out with pencil/paper - but looks like simple algebraic manipulation.

Starting with equation (4) - multiply both sides by by (a+c)

Now work with right hand side - expand by distributing and isolate mt

Tell/show us what you get.....
