Found this image on my computer. I'm wondering how to find the area of the oblong shape? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

You are probably expected to assume that the curves are quadrants of circles centered on the opposite corners, as problems like this are generally meant to consist only of basic shapes (circles, squares, etc.).

It looks like someone drew in a diagonal line dividing the shaded region in half. Consider only one half.

Can you see a way to obtain that region by either adding two regions together, or subtracting one region from another?
