At 6:00 am, two ships leave a port. One ship is sailing south at a rate of 18 kph and the other west at a rate f 23 kph. Express the distanced d between the two ships as a function of t where t denotes time in hrs after 7:00 a.m.

Hi, can you please show us the diagram you drew and the work you have done so far? It really is hard to help you if we do not know where you are stuck.

You do know that R*T=D? Do you see the right triangle formed by the ship? I am sure that Pythagoras see's the right angle.
