I'm having trouble understanding these problems (can someone please explain):
2/3(x+1)3/2 -2(x+1)1/2 --problem

The above problem is supposed to factor into 2/3(x+1)1/2(x-2) --answer in the book
I am getting this (see below) and don't understand the answer above, though it appears to be simple:
2/3((x+1)-2)(x+1)1/2 --what I get

The next problem is the following and the answer is 2/3(x-4)1/2(x+8) --answer in the book
2/3(x-4)2/3+8(x-4)1/2 ---problem

That should be:

2/3((x+1)-3)(x+1)1/2 ........ because 3 * 2/3 = 2

factoring help, thanks
