Cut up Crypt?

S'gotta be illegal...cause I can't solve it :p

Edit:
Hmmm....dOWNed = chopped; d...ed serves as a shed (container) ?

Methinks it's illegal; nothing indicates "container".
There is no container indicator because that's not the wordplay-type. It's a charades-type clue.

I will post a hint tomorrow. :cool:

… HAShed ; own = has

If so, please explain...
Hello Denis. This is a tutoring web site; we ask that students explain why they're stuck, so that we can determine where to begin helping. Please keep this in mind, for future posts. Thank you! :p

As you have shown some partial work, we're able to see one mistake that needs correcting.

own = has

This is not correct due to verb conjugations.

own = have
owns = has

EG:

I own a coin.
I have a coin.

He owns a coin.
He has a coin.

Catch my drift? :cool:

Ya ya....I knew all dat!

SO: HA(ve)SHED ? If so, why?

...or is hashed not the solution?

NOTHING puzzles me...I simply have never seen a similar one!
But then charades are charades, right?!

You've wondered about legality throughout. I don't understand why. You didn't answer my yes-or-no question. :cool:
