How do you answer this with out a calculator

i know you are supposed to add the numbers then divide by 31. When I do this on paper I get 004. The answer is supposed to be 23.6 and I get this answer when I do it with a calculator.

I think you meant to ask for the percent of history students out of all students; the word "average" doesn't make a lot of sense there.

You need to divide 31 by the sum, not the other way around. That's 31/131 = 23.66. You may have divided 131/31 = 4.23.

On paper, you do this as

The number you are dividing by is on the left. Is that your problem?
