Bang rebus

Still ponderin' yours, but thought of this one:

e r i f ͏ (1)

Correct!
My "thinking":
gun = arm
arm the chair (seat) by supplying it with a gun

No?

… gun = arm …
Hmmm. To arm a weapon is to gun it? Couldn't find that verb definition, but I didn't look very hard.

Also, do these rebus puzzles employ synonyms? Can't remember if we've done that, but I do remember some have seemed like crypt hybrids.

Like "Missing"? Couldn't find that synonym defined, either, heh. ;)

Huh? I was arming "seat" by inserting "gun" in it...
Ahhh, you armed the seat, by giving it a gun. That is:

give gun = arm

Yes, that makes sense, but dare I say (lest my words motivate you to focus more on 'em) that I probably wouldn't have gotten it, in a thousand minutes.

Yes, synonyms quite common; like initia- = first Noel
Thanks for that. Something else to consider … :cool:

Google "rebus puzzles" (also known as dingbat puzzles!).
You'll see that they're mainly "picture" puzzles.

One of my favorites is amUous = ambiguous;
also uPOTse = hypotenuse.

1st one = bungalow

No idea on the others :cry:

2nd one made me come up with this: FALLguy = TRIPwire

1st one = bungalow
Correct! :)

No idea on the others
2nd one had a typo, in the word count.

Also added a variation, on the 3rd one.

So, what remains to be solved is:

#2 \(\displaystyle \quad\) FELLman (2)

#3 \(\displaystyle \quad\) yell fin fin fin fin (1)

#4 \(\displaystyle \quad\) yell fin na na (2)

#5 \(\displaystyle \quad\) nonimposable (1)

#6 \(\displaystyle \quad\) aNBU (1)
