The sum of 4 consecutive odd intergers is -28, 458, 968. What is the second number?

-7,114,745 to -7,114,739

let the 4 numbers = 2k-1, 2k-3, 2k-5, 2k-7 : capish?

Denis

I have two questions:

1) Where did k come from?

2) Where did the following numbers come from: -7,114,745 to -7,114,739?

thought you'd figure that out...
k = any integer
here, we want odd numbers, right?
any integer multiplied by 2 is even: 7 * 2 = 14, 13 * 2 = 26 ; ok?
so 2k - 1 or 2k + 1 is odd : awrite?

say you have series 7,9,11,13
making k=3, then that series can be represented this way: 2k+1, 2k+3, 2k+5, 2k+7 : clear?

2) Where did the following numbers come from: -7,114,745 to -7,114,739?

those are the solution to your problem!
-7,114,745 and -7,114,743 and -7,114,741 and -7,114,739
