First Question:
Points (-2, 4), (0, 0) and (2, 4) are on the parabola y = x^2. Use your knowledge of transformations to determine the equation of the parabola using these coordinates.

(a) (2, 4), (4, 0), (6, 4)

ANOTHER QUESTION:
In these questions the coordinates of a point on the parabola y = x^2 are given. State the new coordinates under each transformation.

(a) (3, 9); vertical stretch of -1/3

(b) (3, 9); vertical compression by 3, shift left 5, and shift down 2.

Hello, sobi!

Here's the first one . . .

First Question
Points (-2, 4), (0, 0) and (2, 4) are on the parabola y = x2.

Use your knowledge of transformations to determine the equation of the parabola using these coordinates.

(a) (2, 4), (4, 0), (6, 4)
Note that the points have been shifted 4 units to the right.

The equation is: .y = (x - 4)2
