this is throwing me off, bad. we're supposedly reviewing stuff we should have learned in Alg. 1, but i never had to learn this!

ok an ex. problem would be x+2y=4 and 3x-2y=4

it tells me to solve the system, what exactly does that mean and how do i do it?

The "system" is the two equations, taken together. The "solution" is the point (if any) where the two lines intersect.

There are various way to solve systems, and we can't teach lessons on them here, but there is a nice lesson elsewhere on this site which should serve to jog your memory. Once you've reviewed that, please let us know if you are still having trouble. Thank you.
