What you did was the opposite of factoring; you multiplied out. And actually you should simplify first: 1 - 9 = -8.

m - 9m...

wouldn't be like 1- -9m?

isn't it a positive minus a negative a positive??

i get 10m....

No; subtracting +9 is not the same as subtracting -9. They're two different numbers.

Does 1 - 9 simplify to "10"? Does the expression work out to be "m/7 - 10m/7 = -(9/7)m"? Eliz.
I wasn't looking at original: just what this guy had written down...
was giving an example, really...

-(M/7) - (1/7)(M - 9M)
= -m/7 - (-8m/7)
= -m/7 + 8m/7
= (-m + 8m) / 7
= 7m / 7
= m
can we put this one in file#13 now...PLEASE!!

First, what does WTF stands for? If it stands for what I think it does, then I find it offensive.

Second, if you have a teacher, he/she isn't doing their job, because you lack basic understanding. The help you need greatly exceeds the help that can be provided here. Please seek one on one help.
