OK I'm new to all this, but I am working on a homework assignment and it's killing me!
If you can help out, I'd appreciate it- here is the problem I'm working on now. It is multiple choice, but a brief explaination of how you got it would be great too!

find y as a function of x:

e^(y-C) = x + 4

choices:
A) y= e^(x+4) + C
B) y= Sq. Rt. x+4 + C
C) y = Sq. Rt. x+4 - C
D) y = ln (x+4) + C

Have you tried taking the ln of both sides?

With multiple choice you can try
x=-4
and easily eliminate three of them (NOT the recomended way of solving.)

Also when you type
sqrt x+4+C
you have to show where the sqrt ends. We could read it as
sqrt(x)+4+C or
sqrt(x+4)+C or
sqrt(x+4+C)
sqrt needs ()s

Same if you had a+b/c+d
You probably would have meant (a+b)/(c+d) but we wouldn't know that it wasn't a+(b/c)+d
Ya gotta show us.
Don't be afraid of too many ()s. They are on sale at Wal-Mart

Thanks... I will see what I can figure out with that... When I originally typed the options I put a larger space between the end of the exponent thing and the next #... thought that would separate it out for everyone... it doesn't look like it stayed that spread out though...

Ok I will play with it for a sec. and see what I can figure out.
THANKS
