Tired of these games, Denis. Please grow up.
Thank you!

If you're "tired of these games", then don't mention my name
when you post...

You previouly mentionned "dignity" as being appropriate for tutors;
anybody looking at how you handled this poor student, making him
go back and forth when it was APPARENT he had REALLY tried,
is sure far from "dignity"; easy to tell that, reading between the lines,
you were trying to get rid of him...plus toying with him...

And Eliz, I politely request that you don't interfere in my "disputes"
with happy: thank you.

Some tutors go to extreme with: show your work.
Some tutors go to extreme with: here's the answer.

I believe some reasonable medium should be used.
My opinion, of course.

I apologize; I'd thought private conversations took place with private messaging, and that all were welcome to post to open threads. Sorry.

Eliz.

Np. And I see your point...
Next time this happens, I'll PM this happy guy/gal...
and I'll bop him on the head like Little Bunny Foo Foo does to the field mice...

I think the problem is that you think I don't know how to do real Math, so why do I even bother coming here, right?

Then what is the problem? Is it because I don't help the students enough?

I was brought up on a dairy farm; I've milked cows (hated it!).

happy: I bought a cow and a pail; how do I milk my cow?

Denis: go get a stool.

happy: what's that, a stool?

Denis: phone a farmer and ask him.

happy: ok, got a stool; what do I do now?

Denis: wash the cow's udder.

happy: what's a udder?

Denis: look it up in your dictionary.

and on and on...and a posting for each question and reply...

........................................................................................................

I don't feel that every student should automatically be assumed to be
lazy, and looking for homework answers; if that's the case for a student,
it'll become apparent after a few posts.

I also don't feel tutors should give out full solutions automatically; but at
least should help to some extent...if you want to know what I mean, have
a look at how TKHunny and Gene do it: a reasonable initial "push",
ending with "I'll let you finish it".

If a student has an "easy" question about a triangle, and we answer:
look up the Law of Cosines, have we helped him?
If he knew about the Law of Cosines, that "easy" question would not
have been asked.
Plus how do we know that he hasn't looked it up, but does not understand it?

That's IT; I'm also tired of YOUR games (as you say); no more replies from me.

Now, boys.... Don't you make me come back there!

Eliz.
