I have a little bit of progress but i think i need to start form the beginnig

this is the question

Write an equation of the line that passes through the given point P and has the given slope.

P(0,5), slope= 2

This question could have a couple different answers to it. The quickest way to do it is put it into point-slope form. which is:

y-y1=m(x-x1).

Now all you do is subsitute in the slope and the correct y1 and x1 values. It ends up looking like this:

y-5=2(x-0)

Hope this helps!

this is the question

Write an equation of the line that passes through the given point P and has the given slope.

P(0,5), slope= 2

this is an easier way to do it

y=mx+c
5=(2)(2)+c
5=4+c
c=1
therefore
y=2x+1

Hello, ba2209!

I have a little bit of progress but i think i need to start from the beginning

Write an equation of the line that passes through the given point P and has the given slope.

P(0,5), slope= 2
The beginning . . . Do you know: .y .= .mx + b ?

Do you know what m represents? .(slope)
. . and the b? .(y-intercept)

Well, you're given P(0,5) . . . the y-intercept is 5
. . and you're given m = 2, right?

Can you finish it now?
