I think it might be Least common multiple but I want to double check

Jack has 410 hot dogs and 458 hot dog buns. He wants to put the same number of hot dog with te buns on each tray. What does jack have tofind?

A. The greatest common factor of 410 and 458
b. the least common multile of 410 and 458
c. The differenxce of 458 and 410
d. the smaller of 458 and 229

On what basis (by what reasoning) do you feel that this is a LCM exercise?

Where did the "229" in option (d) come from?

Thank you.

Eliz.

Having only 410 hot dogs, only 410 hot dogs and buns can be servrd in spite of the fact that there are 48 more buns.

The prime factorization of 410 is 2(5)41.

The total number of factors/divisors is therefore, f(410) = (1 + 1)(1 + 1)(1 + 1) = 8, namely, 1, 2, 5, 10, 41, 82, 205 and 410.

Therefore, Jack can serve any of the factor pairs for 410 or

1 HD to 410 people
2 HD to 205 people
5 HD to 82 people
10HD to 41 people
41 HD to 10 people
82 HD to 5 people
205 HD to 2 people
410 HD to one person

I guess it depends on how many people are at Jack's picnic.

Hello, xxbabezxx233!

Am I missing something?
It looks like grade-school arithmetic.

Jack has 410 hot dogs and 458 hot dog buns.
He wants to put the same number of hot dog with the buns on each tray.
What does jack have to find?

A. The greatest common factor of 410 and 458
b. the least common multile of 410 and 458
c. The differenxce of 458 and 410
d. the smaller of 458 and 229
If I read it correctly, he needs \(\displaystyle 458\,-\,410\:=\:48\) more hot dogs.

He needs to find 48 more hot dogs . . . and one large tray.
