25% of 88 is the same as what percent of 22?
1) 12.5 % 2) 40% 3) 50% or 4) 100%

Well, i started off by thinking to find 25 percent of 88
25/100 = x/88 it ends up to be x=22

then i tried 40/100 = 22/x>2200=40x which equals 55. I was experimenting, and i am really confused, can someone help me please? thank you

KEEP IT SIMPLE!

25% of 88 = .25 times 88 = 22 ; STOP!

Now the question is: 22 is the same as what percent of 22?

That doesn't make sense to me
What the tutor provided is standard terminology. Perhaps your class or text is using some other terminology...? Which part didn't make sense to you? Please be specific.

Thank you.

That is a very odd question. The 88 and the 22 have no importance as it is written. The answer, as written, is 25%.
Break the question apart, if you like, to make it a bit more explicit:

. . .What is the number that represents twenty-five percent
. . .of eighty-eight?

. . .Take that number; we'll call it "x".

. . .Consider the new value of twenty-two.

. . .What percent of twenty-two is "x"?

Then the exercise works in the usual manner.

Oh, all right. Nasty, nasty, question. I expect well over half the students who miss this question will miss it because they didn't understand the question.

This is an excellent example of the value of a liberal education. "Why do I have to study English? I'm going into mathematics!" So you can write CLEARLY when you write exam questions.

"25% of 88 is the same as what percent of 22?"

Well, all I got to say is if your teacher used that kind of wording
to teach that n is 100% of n, then that teacher should be put to pasture
