Hi: I need help with these problems. I took an APT Test Thursday. I'm 57 years old and got a GED in 1980. Passing APT is 153 and I got 175. I'm re-testing because passing math grade is 56 and I got 54. I haven't quite grasped Algebra. I study and am fine, but when I see a problem, I just don't remember how to solve. Can you help? I'm the first in a family of ten to attend college. I am going to be a Medical Assistant and very excited about it. Thank you very much. Gwen.

If K=3 What is the value of 2 K2 - 5K - 10?

If 5X = 9+2X, then X=?

Replace the K with 3:
2 * 3^2 - 5 * 3 - 10
= 2 * 9 - 15 - 10
= 18 - 25
= -7

5X = 9+2X ; subtract 2X from each side:
5X - 2X = 9
3X = 9 ; divide each side by 3:
X = 3

Besta luck, Gwen :wink:
