The problem is : x^2 - 2x +1 = 5
im not sure how to start the problem :? :?

any help will be apreciated,,,THANK YOU.

Start by subtracting 5 from each side to get
x²-2x-4=0
It is now in the standard form
ax²+bx+c=0
It doesn't factor 'cause the factors of 4 are 1,-4,-1,4 & 2,-2 and none of them add up to -2. The quadratic formula is indicated.
x=(-b+sqet(b²-4ac))/(2a)

Try completing the square. Just one of many ways to solve.

\(\displaystyle x^{2}-2x=4\)

You know how?.

first you should label a,b,and,c
a=1
b=-10
c=22

i think that you should then use the formula
