Hello.
I am really lost on my homework. I have to find what X and Y equal in an isoceles triangle where the first two sides are congruent and there is a midsegment dividing the triangle into two. For example, X is the bottom left corner of the top triangle. Y is the upper right corner of the now trapezoid shape. 60 degrees is the bottom left corner, and 40 degrees is the bottom right corner.
I am not exactly sure how I would calculate this. Would I add up 60 and 40 to get 100, then divide it in half for the midsegment into 50? But then, what would I do with that 50 degrees?

Thanks,
Mantret

Have you figured out that the "midsegment" is parallel to the base?
