Using three of the symbols +, - , x and / once each, fill in the following three blanks to make a true equation. ( Parentheses are allowed)

6_____6_____6_____6=66

How would I teach this equation to elementary students??
is there a method to solving aproblem like this??
Thamks!

you'd have to start by teaching then the order of operations.

\(\displaystyle \L 6 \times (6 + 6) - 6 = 66\)

What do you mean by "teaching this equation"? Do you mean "explaining the general approach"? "Explaining what the question is asking"? "Demonstrating how one might attempt a solution"?

What do you mean by a "method" for "solving" this? Do you mean "a formula for spitting out the solutions easily"? If so, then of course the answer is "no". If you meant something else, please clarify.

Thank you.

Eliz.

These are usually considered "puzzles"; like:
using four 6's, represent as many numbers from 1 up as you can...

6 - 6 + 6/6 = 1
6/6 + 6/6 = 2
6 / ((6 + 6) / 6) = 3
6 - (6 + 6) / 6 = 4
66 / 6 - 6 = 5
(6 - 6) / 6 + 6 = 6
6^(6 - 6) + 6 = 7
and so on...
