clear the bracket

10-5x+3x+3=3

combine likes

13-2x=3

subtract 3 from each side

10-2x=0

add 2x to each side

10=2x

divide both sides by 2

5=x answer

===========================================

proof

let x=5

5[2-5]+3[5]+3 =? 3

5[-3]+15+3 =? 3

-15+15+3=?3

3=?3 yes

5(2 - x) means multiply what's inside brackets by what's outside;

so 5*2 - 5*x = 10 - 5x

If your math tutor can't solve something so basic, then he/she should be fired!

At your level, I recommend a good teacher and a simple calculatorsandradot said:Also, which program would anyone recommend purchasing for algebra help?Had no idea there were so many to choose from.

Best of luck in your learnings!
