Limits Question

I'm having a problem with a couple two-part problems here:

Given

, show the function is continuous at x=-1 by computing f(-1) and

Given

, show the function is continuous at x=3 by computing f(3) and
994671img4.gif


I can find f(-1) and f(3), but I don't understand how the latter part of the problems are any different?

If \(\displaystyle \lim _{x \to a} f(x) = f(a)\) the \(\displaystyle f\) is continuous at \(\displaystyle x=a\).
