I have the following DE dy/dx + x = 2y and have to solve using integrating factor method for the particular solution. The intial conditions are x=0, y=2. I have tried to solve this but cant see where i am going wrong could anybody help??

Re: Intergrating factor

First re-write the equation so it has the standard form of a first order linear equation.

Re: Intergrating factor

\(\displaystyle \frac{dy}{dx}-2y=-x\)

Integrating factor: \(\displaystyle e^{\int -2 dx}=e^{-2x}\)
