A map has a scale of 1cm=24km. If two cities are 9 centimeters apart on the map, what is the actual distance between the two cities to the nearest tenth of kilometer?

[A.]3.8km [B.]216km [C.]0.4km [D.]2.7km

Please share with us your work/thoughts - indicating exactly where you are stuck - so that we know where to begin to help you.

Hint

If the cities were 1 cm apart on the map - what would be the actual distance = 24.0 km

If the cities were 2 cm apart on the map - what would be the actual distance = 2 * 24 = 48.0 km

Now continue....

This is a proportion exercise, just like the other one, for which the complete worked solution and answer were provided. Please first review that thread, and then reply here with what you could accomplish based on what you learned there.

Thank you! :D
