One of your investments, a mutual fund, was bought by you for $12 on Jan. 1 this year with a sales charge at that time of 4% of the NAV. It increased in value since then by $2. What is the current YTD NAV (that is what can you sell it for today)?
What is the YTD% return?

I know NAV is the Net asset Value
I also know that the beginning of year NAV = (current NAV)/(100% + YTD % ret)
I am not sure if I am supposed to incorporate these formulas:
Mutual Fund Sales Charge = Offer price - NAV (net asset value)

and
Sales Charge Percent = (sales charge)/(NAV) x 100%

please help!!
