ok the problem is
m-21=-30
and i have
m-21=-30
+21 +21
m=-10
did i do that right??

Your step is correct (adding 21 to both sides), but your arithmetic is wrong.

-30 + 21 does not equal -10

Please look at the title of this question and compare it to the body of the problem statement.

It's rather clear, here, that you are not feeling all that well about what you are doing.

Slow down. Take a few deep breaths. You seem to have the idea. Try another one.
 
Solve for m:

m - 21 = -30

The first step is: add 21 to both sides

m - 21 + 21 = -30 + 21

The next step is: simplify each side

m = -9

Done.

Your mistake was arithmetic.

You thought -30 + 21 equals -10.

It doesn't.

It equals -9.
